The Project

At the windswept edge of the Aegean, overlooking the crystalline shoreline of Kalafati Bay, Cali Mykonos emerges from the hillside as if cast from the very geology that surrounds it. Its architecture unfolds in terraced forms that step down the landscape, converging in one defining architectural line: a sweeping, lagoon-like infinity pool that mirrors the curvature of the coastline and anchors the resort’s visual narrative.

To articulate this signature element after dark, LEDFlex partnered with PROLIGHT to engineer a lighting system that would remain invisible in daylight and perform with absolute reliability at night. The brief demanded a fully submersible solution capable of continuous operation in a high-salinity marine environment, achieving a clean, uninterrupted line of light without compromising durability, optical integrity, or the resort’s minimal aesthetic.

Aqua Neon, from the Flexi Neon range, was selected for its robust engineering and refined optical output. Its IP68 PVC-encapsulated housing, supported by double injection-moulded sealing, ensures full protection against prolonged immersion in seawater up to 4% salinity, as well as chlorinated and ozone-regulated pool systems. The solution is designed to endure the mechanical dynamics of filtration cycles, coastal spray, hydrostatic pressure and the thermal fluctuations inherent to exposed waterfront structures.

Installed discreetly beneath the coping, Aqua Neon produces a continuous, dot-free perimeter without hotspots, forward glare or visible hardware. The illumination reads as an extension of the water plane itself, rendering the pool’s geometry with clarity while maintaining the resort’s restrained, low-impact nighttime identity.

As the island shifts from sun-bleached daylight to its cooler nocturnal palette, the pool’s illuminated edge becomes a quiet yet definitive gesture: a calibrated ribbon of light that guides movement, reinforces spatial orientation, and accentuates the seamless interplay of architecture, landscape and sea. The result is disciplined, understated, and unmistakably Mykonian.
